Position Title: Safety Coordinator

Duties & Responsibilities:

Carondelet Health Network's Safety Department has an exciting and unique opportunity for a Safety Coordinator.

Assist in maintaining compliance with appropriate federal, state, local ordinances, and JCAHO requirements pertaining to safety, environmental compliance and emergency management issues and to help maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, staff, physician, volunteers and students. Incumbent reports to Safety Officer and has contact with all levels of hospital staff as well as physicians and visitors. External contact includes federal, state and local regulatory agencies including but not limited to fire department personnel, EPA, OHSA , Health Departments and their contractors and vendors.

FT/PT: FULL TIME

Educational Requirements:

Required:
· High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D.)
· Arizona Drivers License
· Hazardous Waste Operations Emergency Response (HAZWOPER)(Completed within 90 of hire)
· 2 years related experience
· Team building, problem solving, critical thinking, coaching and mentoring, understanding of systems thinking and business development, and interpersonal communication
· Regulatory and accreditation requirements
· Ability to comprehend laws, regulations, and standards relating to fire and safety regulations.

Preferred:
· AS, AA, AAS
· HAZMAT Certification, Environmental Compliance. RCRA, Industrial Hygiene
· Experience in Emergency Response, Bio-Terrorism, Chemical Hygiene, Chemical/Biological Agent Identification and/or Security
· Basic computer skills, personal computer applications, and awareness of current use of technology in related field
· Technology of specialty

Position Title: Health and Safety Trainer

Duties & Responsibilities:

Present health and safety training to clients in Arizona. Travel other states available. Trainers with experience teaching topics including Hazwoper, Electrical Safety, Heavy Equipment, Confined Space, CPR, Respiratory Protection and many others are needed. Workplace Safety Specialists provides classroom training equipment, student manuals, exams, certificates and equipment for hands-on activities.

FT/PT: Contractor positions only (number of hours depends on qualifications of contractor and class availability; 40 hrs/week possible)

Educational Requirements:

Minimum 5 years environmental, health or safety experience required. Must demonstrate technical knowledge, excellent speaking skills and effective interpersonal skills dealing with people at various levels. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.

Must understand laws, regulations, polices and procedures affecting environmental health and safety programs; build and maintain relationships with clients; communicate clearly; analyze and evaluate client information and make recommendations based on findings; detect public health hazards and conditions which violate public health and safety laws, ordinances and regulations; represent the company at clients’ facilities; interpret workplace health needs and goals to others.

We have had an exceptional safety manager in place in Las Vegas, who had been groomed to become our Safety Director for Nevada. Recent developments have him moving to another location so we need to find a person who can jump in and fill his shoes. We need a person who has a great educational background: Ideal candidates would have a Bachelors degree with a safety related major. We need them to be OCIP Qualified, Have their OSHA “Train the Trainer” certification as well as experience working on large construction projects.

We need a person who can jump in and quickly take on more responsibility and prove to us that he or she is ready to become our safety director.

Responsibilities:
1) Monitor safety efforts of Subcontractors and McCarthy employees
2) Oversee the issuance of the new hire safety documents and other Division specific information to all new McCarthy employees
3) Conduct/coordinate Project Safety "Tool Box" Meetings with all McCarthy employees on a weekly basis
4) Discuss safety with the on-site Subcontractors Supervisory Personnel
5) Coordinate with Project Supervision so that necessary personal protective equipment and safety materials are utilized
6) Record and forward copies of all safety related meetings, program
