Fall Protection Training Called a Success

With nearly 100 builders, contractors, safety consultants and state and municipal employees in attendance, the four-hour comprehensive fall protection training sponsored by the Arizona Chapter of ASSE and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) was called a “resounding success” by its organizers.

The seminar, held at the Phoenix Convention Center on Sept. 26, 2008, was based on the English/Spanish NAHB-OSHA Fall Protection Handbook and Fall Protection Video. The seminar was also made possible by the OSHA Susan Harwood Training Grant Program.

All attendees were provided NAHB materials and presented with several free catalogs supporting the practicality and availability of conventional fall protection equipment and systems applicable to residential construction. The instructor demonstrated conventional fall protection systems, including guard rails, safety nets, and personal fall arrest systems and a wide array of approaches and methods for meeting the OSHA fall protection standards, according to Jeremy Bethancourt, Chapter Construction Section vice chair and training organizer.

Those unable to attend who would like free copies of training materials should contact the Chapter Construction Section leadership here.
